|Anonymous Framed is my attempt to give an "official" portrait to the female artisans and studio managers of the past. I'm fascinated with the many ways their creative hands touched overlooked historical cultural objects. Many of these objects, like picture frames and decorative porcelain flowers, are items we live with and don't give much thought to their design or production. Additionally, the assumption has been that these items were always made by men. Reclaiming these lost female narratives and honoring them with a commemorative portrait inserts their contributions into our historical narrative and is a nod to the many anonymous artisans that remain unknown.
